Some symptoms need immediate care

New or severe chest pressure, tightness or discomfort that lasts more than a few minutes—or goes away and returns—can be a warning sign of a heart attack. Pain may spread to the arm, jaw, back or upper abdomen. Breathlessness, cold sweat, nausea or faintness may occur with or without chest pain.

Do not wait for an appointment

If you suspect a heart attack, call the Indian emergency number 112 or seek emergency medical care immediately. Do not drive yourself and do not wait for a website enquiry response. Women, older people and people with diabetes may have less typical symptoms.

Not all chest pain comes from the heart

Muscle strain, reflux and other conditions can also cause chest discomfort, but symptoms alone cannot reliably rule out a heart problem. New, recurrent or unexplained pain deserves medical assessment. A clinician may recommend an ECG, blood tests or other investigations based on your situation.
